As women we remember our days of laying on the kitchen counter while our mothers washed our hair and made us beautiful weekly. This was bounding time between mothers and daughters.  All mothers come to a time when being your daughters personal stylist comes to an end. Oh, but this is only the beginning of your journey because finding a hair salon that is willing to take children becomes a task within itself.

Once you find a salon that is willing to service your daughter you know need to really consider if she is ready for salon services. Here are some ways to know if she is ready.

  1. Age and Maturity - We service children once they are age 5. This is because by the age of 5 they are mastered the ability to sit in one spot for more than 3 minutes.  This is a very important skill for them to be able to accomplish because servicing could last up to 2 hours.

  2. Can handle home styling - Your daughter will need to be at a place where they are managing home styling like a pro. They are not crying when they are being shampooed or being combed out.  If they are able to handle this task with mom it's an easier task for the stylist.

  3. Hair needs professional help - It is time to see a stylist if your daughter is having some hair issues that you have not been able to manage. As your child gets older it is normal for the hair texture to change and require a different type of care that may be outside the realm of your understanding.

  4. Asking to go - When you return home from the salon is she asking when she will be able to get her hair done. It is now time for you to prepare to visit a stylist.

  5. Mommy can’t handle anymore - Has the entire experience become more than you can handle? As moms we have a lot of things on our to do list. If your list is filled to the max as your families personal assistant, maid and therapist allow someone else to become your daughters stylist.
